Have you ever felt like you were meant for something more? The question has haunted nearly every person that has ever lived. It’s universal. It betrays the longing and empty hole in our hearts and tells us that something is missing…there’s more to life. We were meant for more.
C.S. Lewis famously said that if we find within ourselves a desire for something this world can’t provide, it’s because we were created for another world. Deep within us, we sense it—the feeling that we were made for something greater, something beyond the ordinary struggles and routines of life. We catch glimpses of it in our dreams, in the moments of quiet longing, in the yearning for meaning that won’t let us rest.
You feel like you were meant for something more because you were.
Humanity was not designed to be what we are. The design was corrupted and sent on a path of futility back in the garden. We were created for wholeness, for communion with our Creator, for a life that is rich with purpose and direction. But the brokenness of this world, of our own choices, has left us wandering, searching for what we lost.
The Bible is God’s story of how He has taken action to restore us to our created design. From the moment sin entered the world, God set into motion a plan to bring us back. A plan that was begun by God, fulfilled through Jesus, and will be made complete when our Savior returns to bring us home. And though we may not fully achieve the totality of what we were meant to be in this life, through Jesus, we can begin the process of restoration.
That is the essence of the journey. That’s how we get there. We were meant for something more, and God wants to take us on a journey to discover what that is. It is not a journey of self-help or personal ambition, but of transformation—a journey where God refines us, where He calls us into something greater, and where He shapes us into who He intended us to be.
This journey is not always easy.
It requires faith to step into the unknown, courage to walk through the trials, and trust to believe that God is leading us even when the path ahead is unclear. There will be moments of struggle, of doubt, of failure. But those moments are not the end of the story. They are stepping stones, places where God meets us, strengthens us, and prepares us for what’s next.
Think about the people in Scripture who were called into something greater. Moses was a fugitive shepherd before he led Israel from captivity. Peter was a fisherman before he became the rock on which Jesus built His church. Paul was a persecutor of Christians before he became the greatest missionary the world has ever known. Every great story in the Bible follows a pattern of transformation—an invitation, a struggle, a breaking point, and a renewal. And that same pattern is at work in our own lives.
The call is there. You feel it in your soul. You were meant for more. Not more money. Not more fame. Not more possessions. But more of what truly matters—more of God, more of His purpose, more of the person He created you to be.
So, will you answer the call?
Will you take the first step into the journey God has prepared for you? Because the truth is, He has been calling you all along. And when you step forward in faith, you’ll find that He is already there, ready to lead you every step of the way.
