Finding Her People: Malorie’s Life Group Story

When Malorie and her husband Robert first came to Mt. Olive Commerce, they were searching for more than just a class: they wanted community. “We were looking for a group where we could talk about God’s Word, share life, and walk through both the good and bad times together,” she said.

That dream took shape when Pastor invited them to lead something new at Mt. Olive: a Life Group. It wasn’t just a new name for a Sunday School class. Life Groups are smaller, more personal gatherings of people who are committed to living life together: sharing meals, praying for one another, diving into Scripture, and walking side by side through every season.

“It felt like God was opening a door. We wanted to be part of what He was doing through the church’s new vision.”

Finding Comfort and Connection

The first meeting brought excitement and a few nerves, but those faded fast. “Everyone was willing to be open: sharing real experiences, struggles, and questions,” Malorie recalls. “There was no judgment, just love. It truly felt like family.”

That sense of belonging deepened when the group kept showing up week after week. It wasn’t long before Malorie knew she had found her people.

Growing Together

For Malorie, leading a Life Group hasn’t just been about teaching—it’s been about growing.

“Just knowing someone is praying for you, or that you can text them anytime, makes a huge difference.”

Her Advice for Anyone Thinking About Joining

“Don’t be nervous; just try it!,” Malorie says. “There are several Life Groups at Mt. Olive, so find one that fits you. You’ll be amazed by the love and support you find here.”

And her favorite surprise? “Getting to know people so well that I can almost predict their answers... and loving every minute of it.”
