Value #5 We Find Purpose In Our Calling

Introduction

This week in our Mission and Values series, we focused on Value #5: We Find Purpose in Our Calling. This message reminds us that God has a unique calling for every believer, rooted in His design and restored through Christ. As we grow in faith and discover how God is working in us, we find clarity, joy, and direction. When we live out our calling together, we experience the fulfillment of joining God in His mission.

Study Questions

1.      When you were younger, what were you absolutely convinced that God wanted you to be or do? What became of that?

2.      When you hear the word calling, what do you usually associate it with: career, ministry roles, spiritual elites, or everyday life? Why do you think that association is so common?

3.      Read Isaiah 6:8 and John 15:16. What do these passages reveal about who initiates calling, and what kind of response God is looking for from us?

4.      The sermon traced calling back to the Garden of Eden as reflecting God’s image and stewarding creation. How does this broader view of calling challenge the idea that only some people are “called”? How does it connect to the mission?

5.      Read Romans 12:2–8. Why is it important to distinguish between spiritual gifts and natural talents? How can confusing the two lead to frustration or misalignment in serving?

6.      Read Hebrews 5:12–14. How does this passage describe spiritual maturity, and why does maturity require ongoing growth rather than a final “arrival”? How does this connect to mentorship?

7.      CALL TO ACTION: Memorize Ephesians 2:10. Talk with someone about what God’s calling looks like on your life right now. Take a step in following or growing in that calling. If you haven’t taken it, sign up for the Serving Class.
