The Things We All Chase
Introduction
What are you chasing? The things of this world will fade, but Jesus never will. John 6 reminds us that our deepest hunger can only be satisfied in Christ. May we leave behind what distracts us and chase after Jesus with the simple, joyful faith of a child, a faith that never loses its wonder.

Study Questions
1. What is a food, brand, or store you’ve actually “chased down” or stood in a ridiculously long line for you just to get your hands on it?
2. Read John 6:22–26. Why did the crowd go looking for Jesus? What does Jesus reveal about their true motive?
3. Last week, Pastor Keven said, “It is possible to chase Jesus for what you think he will give you while missing who he is.” What are some ways people can use religious activity to satisfy earthly hungers instead of seeking Jesus himself?
4. Read John 6:27. What does Jesus mean when he tells them not to work for food that perishes, but for food that lasts for eternal life? What does this look like practically in everyday life?
5. Read John 6:28–29. The crowd’s response was to find out what works they could do. Why is the human heart so addicted to creating checklists as a control mechanism for our lives? How can even good religious habits become a way of trying to control God instead of trusting him?
6. What does fully surrendered control look like for you? What is one area of your life you need to stop trying to manage and control, and how would it look different if you did?
7. Memorize John 6:29. Share with your group or a trusted friend something you’ve been chasing or a checklist you’ve been relying on instead of faith. Do a heart inspection this week and pray about what God reveals to you. Take steps to stop chasing something spiritually unhealthy this week.
