The Source of Power
Introduction
In John 7:10–24, Jesus reminds us that God is the source of truth, understanding, and righteousness. Through His Word and the gift of His grace, we can see our need for a Savior and discover the hope found in Jesus. May we seek His will, trust His leading, and share that hope with a world that needs Him.

I. The Source of Truth. John 7:14-16
· If we don’t have an objective source of truth, then we can’t really know what is true and what is not true.
II. The Source of Understanding. John 7:17-18
· Our very ability to understand anything divine is itself a gift of grace from our Creator.
III. The Source of Morality. John 7:19-24
· The very fact that we recognize evil as evil points to a real standard of good beyond personal opinion.
Study Questions
1. What is something you believed for a long time because someone you trusted said it, only to later realize you needed to check for yourself?
2. Read John 7:10–16. Why were the people in Jerusalem divided over Jesus, and why were they amazed when he began teaching in the temple?
3. What happens when people decide that truth is based only on personal preference, perception, or power? How does anchoring truth in God’s character protect us from subjective truth based on personal feelings?
4. Last week, Pastor Keven said, “Our very ability to understand anything divine is itself a gift of grace from our Creator.” How does that change the way we approach Scripture, prayer, and spiritual questions? What are some ways we distort our understanding about God?
5. How does the reality of good and evil point us back to God as the source of morality? Why is this important?
6. How can we understand the problem of evil in terms of God’s patience and mercy? How does this reframe our frustration with the brokenness and unfairness we see in the world around us?
7. Memorize John 7:24. Share with a trusted friend or your group one personal bias you have been harboring that needs to be aligned with God’s truth. Pray specifically for spiritual understanding before reading scripture and ask God to soften where your own pride or feelings have resisted clear instruction.
