Study Questions
1. What is something in the natural world that makes you feel incredibly small? What is it like to look at something so much larger than yourself?
2. Read Psalm 93:1 and Deuteronomy 32:4. God is sovereignty, meaning He is all-powerful, all-knowing, and completely just. Why is it vital that we always keep His justice and fairness connected to His power? What happens to a person's faith if they believe God has all the power, but they aren't convinced He is actually fair or good?
3. Read Isaiah 6:3 and Romans 11:33–34. God is transcendent, meaning He is holy, infinite, and exists in a beautiful mystery as the Triune God. How is it comforting to know that God is far beyond our human logic and complete comprehension?
4. When life doesn't make sense or our prayers go unanswered, our default reaction is often to demand an explanation from God. How does a proper understanding of God’s transcendence change our posture and our expectations?
5. Read Psalm 139:7–10 and 1 John 4:16. God is imminent, meaning He is intimately near us at all times and His core nature is love. How does the reality that God is inescapable comfort you when you are lonely or suffering? How does that same truth challenge you when you are tempted to slip back into old habits in secret?
6. Read Colossians 1:15 and Hebrews 1:3. Jesus is the ultimate, visible image of the invisible God. If someone asked you, "What is God's power, holiness, and love actually like in real, everyday life?" how would pointing them to Jesus answer their question?
7. Memorize Isaiah 55:8-9. Share with your group how a distorted view of God has affected the way you live. Look for ways this week to see and recognize God’s greatness in your everyday life, and share what you discover with someone.
