Living Faithfully

Introduction

As we step into a new year, this message challenges us to move beyond reflection into intentional faith. Drawing from 2 Thessalonians 3, we’re reminded that spiritual growth doesn’t happen by accident—it requires purpose, godly influence, and accountability. This sermon calls believers to live actively and faithfully, modeling the gospel in everyday life, guarding our influences, and lovingly holding one another accountable. As we close the Thrill of Hope series, we’re invited to consider a simple but powerful question: How will we live this year—and will our lives point others to Jesus

Discussion Questions

Outline

        I.            Watch Your Influences

·         Who and what shapes us matters, and our hope is either strengthened or weakened by the influences we allow to guide our lives.

      II.            Model Faithfulness

·         The Christian hope is never passive but is meant to be lived out visibly so that others, inside and outside the church, can see what it means to follow Jesus.

    III.            Be Accountable

·         It’s through your love and God’s conviction that restoration is found.

Study Questions

1.      As you reflect on last year, what are some areas of spiritual growth that you experienced? How would you like to grow in this next year?

2.      Look at 2 Thessalonians 3:6. What does Paul specifically warn believers about the influence of others believers who live disorderly lives? How is that different from how we relate to unbelievers?

3.      Look at verses 7-9. Paul points to his own example instead of just giving instructions. Why is it important to live a Gospel example in our everyday lives? What does that look like practically?

4.      Paul contrasts living as a meaningful example with being idle and being a “busybody.” Why is idleness and being a “busybody” so tempting? How is this behavior actually a false or counter Gospel?

5.      Last week, Pastor Keven said, “His love can strengthen and protect you from what’s out there but also from what’s in your sin nature.” How does knowing God never leaves us affect our confidence to face the world? How does it affect how we face temptation?

6.      2 Thessalonians 14-15, Galatians 6:1-2, Matthew 18:15-17, and Proverbs 27:5-6. What do these passages tell us about Christian accountability? What is the role of the friend and what is the role of the Holy Spirit?

7.      CALL TO ACTION: Memorize 2 Thessalonians 3:13. If you do not already have one, identify and connect with an accountability partner for the new year. Talk with each other about your spiritual weaknesses and your growth goals.
