Introduction
Following Jesus isn’t always easy. His Word may challenge us, stretch us, and call us to trust when the way is hard. But like Peter, we can say, “Lord, to whom will we go?” In Jesus alone we find hope, forgiveness, and the words of eternal life.

Study Questions
1. What is something you thought would be easy when you first started, but later discovered was much harder than expected?
2. Read John 6:52–59. Why were Jesus’ words about eating his flesh and drinking his blood so offensive? Why is the message of the cross offensive to people today?
3. Last week, Pastor Keven said, “You can’t make Jesus easier by attempting to remove the offense of the cross.” What are some ways people try to make Jesus or Christianity less offensive? What happens as a result?
4. Read John 6:60–65. What is the difference between following Jesus outwardly and truly following him inwardly? What is the difference between simply having questions about Scripture and having a heart that resists what God commands?
5. Read John 6:66–69. What makes Peter’s answer such an important confession in scripture? What are the ways we try live contrary to Peter’s confession?
6. John includes Judas at the end of this passage as someone outwardly near Jesus but inwardly false. What do we learn here about external religion? What do we learn about hidden unbelief?
7. Memorize John 6:68. Share with your group or a trusted friend one hard teaching, hard obedience, or hard season that has tested your faith. Practice verbalizing God’s faithfulness despite hard things and look for an opportunity to share that story.
