Kim Aaron’s Story
For Kim, serving at Mt. Olive Commerce began with a simple question: Can I help?
When she first started attending church, many people in her Sunday School class were part of the Host/Hostess Committee. Kim asked if she could join, and before long, she was helping lead. Over time, she served as co-chairperson and eventually chairman, learning that hospitality wasn’t just something she enjoyed; it was something God was using.
Saying Yes to What She Loves
Kim loves decorating, food, and creating spaces that feel welcoming. Serving gave her a place to use those gifts finding better ways to set up, organize, and make events easier and more enjoyable for everyone who walks through the doors.
Like many volunteers, she felt nervous at first.
“What if I’m not doing this the right way?”
“What if there’s a better approach?”
But she took the step anyway.
The Joy of Hospitality
What Kim enjoys most is simple and powerful:
Seeing people relaxed.
Seeing them happy.
Helping them feel like they belong.
That heart shows up every Sunday morning as she faithfully helps provide breakfast, creating a warm, welcoming start to the day for families, volunteers, and guests alike.
Serving Together
Through her role, Kim has seen God work through teamwork, people ready to step in, help, and support one another, especially during busy events. Serving has introduced her to people she might not have met otherwise and deepened her connections across the church.
What Serving Has Taught Her
God gives strength for every task, even last-minute ones
Faith grows when we step out, even when we feel unsure
Small acts of service make a big impact
“I can do all things through Christ. Even the difficult or unexpected moments.”
Encouragement for Anyone Unsure Where to Start
Kim’s advice is simple and freeing:
Start with what you enjoy.
Meeting people
Cleaning or organizing
Cooking or decorating
Helping behind the scenes
“There’s a place for everyone,” she says. “Start small.”
Saying Yes Changes Everything
Saying yes to serving has helped Kim become more involved in every part of church life. What began with a simple desire to help has turned into a meaningful way to love people and serve God through hospitality.
